For those with ADD, Adderall can be a lifesaver. Unfortunately, that is not understood by many, because of its potential for abuse in those who do not suffer from ADD/ADHD. I have seen this fact cause feelings of shame and confusion in acquaintances who do benefit in a healthy way from this medication.

I abused Adderall in the past (I do not need it, I absolutely do not suffer from ADD) and it ended up changing my mood and behavior to the point that I felt out of control. However, it sounds like Adderall is helping you regain control, and that is a good thing, in my opinion. I hope that discussing the issue further with your doctor, or getting a second opinion, will bring you peace and clarity, whatever that decision is.
