I would feel betrayed too.

On the other hand my ex often didn't want to be around my family ( he is an alcoholic etc ) and I had to constantly lie that he is on a business trip or sick. It eventually got old. Is there a reason you don't want to attend his family events and is it just once in awhile or common occurrence
