Welcome to the forums, SillyMom!
I was also mis-dx'd and mismedicated by a GP. The depression was beyond obvious. But she only "screened" for BP with 3 words -- "so, no highs?" I didn't even know what she was talking about. Enter Lexapro. Within 2 days, I was bouncing off the walls.

Which to me, was great. At first. I didn't have a clue that this was a huge red flag. Unfortunately, neither did the GP. All hell broke loose before being properly dx'd by Pdoc.

All the more appalling because I don't have a tricky case BP-wise. It's downright "textbook" and clearcut. Nothing subtle about it, no unusual presentation. Which is why I'm quick to warn on the perils of GPs dabbling in psych matters. The tragedy is how common this is, the upside is that you have MANY who can understand and relate.
Thanks for this!
