I don't really find it that surprising. Most people don't understand bipolar disorder, and there have been so many news reports of crazy things done by so-called bipolar people that we have a bad reputation as a result. Anyway, I would let your son play with his friend at his friend's house for a while and look for an opportunity to educate his parents on what bipolar disorder is and what it is not. Hopefully, in time, they will realize that you are a good person, rather than a risk, and they will allow their son to play at your house.
