I have never tried chicory coffee, and had no idea people drank it by choice. I only know it from stories from WWII when coffee was heavily rationed and chicory was known as "surrogate" ("surr" for short) and in all the stories people think it is entirely inferior and miss real coffee. So it's interesting that it's used as a flavouring in the US! I'm sure it is a very different thing when used as a substitute rather than an additive though. No caffeine for one thing.

I am not a big fan of flavoured coffee. A dusting of cardamom can be nice, but that's about as far as I can go. I tried a pumpkin spice latte once and almost couldn't finish it.
Thanks for this!
