Holocaust Memorial Week begins tomorrow in Israel.
I am not sure if you are aware--but there is a siren that will
blow here on Thursday at noon. Everyone stops working,
stands up, and is silent for 2 minutes to remember those
who perished in the ghettos and concentration camps.

Each day that I was homeless, I told myself that my situation
was never as desperate or as horrible as those we lost in the Shoah.
How does one learn true compassion without he or she themselves
having suffered?
