If you received a careful diagnosis, I would suggest not being too concerned about the length of any given episode. As I understand it, people with bipolar disorder, and pretty much every other type of mental illness, run a complete spectrum of severity. To me, the important thing is that you have sought treatment and now have the opportunity to address it in a meaningful way. I wish you all the best and welcome to the forum
