My nutritionist says that weight is 90% diet, 10% exercise, so yes, you're right that food intake is much more important than exercise.

Personally, I'm motivated to go to the gym when I know other people who go. We kind of feed off each other's motivation.

Could you get one of your friends to go? Maybe someone from your support group? If you need exercise to reduce stress, then they probably do too.
