I am in the same boat. I plan to join a 24 hour gym and go late in the evening/super early morning to avoid people. I think the key is finding something you somewhat enjoy and creating a routine. Having someone to go with is imperative for me. Would that possibly help you as well? For me, weight is much more about what I eat. Exercise builds endurance but in the beginning, don't overdo it. Build slowly. Exercising in water is great if you have physical health issues and pain. I wish they had SUPER heated pools close to me. Our local gyms keep the pools too cold. Some cities have warm water aquatics. Best of luck.
