any survey \ fill in the answer\check or color the circle for the answer tests is only as accurate as how ever one answers the question.

example if one fills in, checks of never for all the questions that revolve around the topic of being a painter then the report is going to show that person is not a painter, regardless that the person may have a job as a painter.

if your MMPI test said you are not bipolar then that just reflects how you answered the questions having to do with depression, suicidal thoughts, self injury thoughts, mood swings, self care and other avenues that people with bipolar have trouble with. it doesnt say definitively one way or another that a person has bipolar disorder. the MMPI grouping of tests are used in conjunction with other tests like talking for an hour with a treatment provider, past records,....

my suggestion if you dont agree with the results of your diagnosis talk with your treatment provider. they will tell you how and why you not now diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

just a tip ....sometimes peoples problems change over time and with treatment, sometimes as a person matures they have better coping tools then they did before, these can cause a person to have a mental disorder years ago and then no longer have it with recent testings.

its actually a great thing to not have a previously diagnosed mental disorder, it shows progress, healing and growing\maturity. I love it when my previously diagnosed problems get cleared up.
