Yes, intrusive thoughts can be VERY distracting and disruptive. It's best to keep pushing through them (keep doing what you're doing), so you can learn to work through the anxiety. Sometimes you just have to take a break, so make sure what you do is calming but not a compulsion (e.g.: For me, my compulsion is to try to get reassurance from others. So, when I have a lot of obsessive thoughts or anxiety, I avoid calling people for reassurance. I do a meditation or go for a walk or do some yoga until the anxiety passes.) Hope that helps.
