I call both of mine by their first names. (I see a DO for pdoc and PhD for therapy). I ask because although many of my pdoc's patients call her by her first name lots of other people seem to find it really strange. In the hospital I've had people almost correct me because they (the nurses) call her Dr. ________ and so when I say "well, FirstName says that this med is bad for me" they'll respond "Dr. NotFirstName would have to answer that, with a lot of emphasis on DR."

My pdoc has been treating me with monthly visits and usually an email every month or two (more when things are bad) for 14 years. We have a strong bond and I think the Dr. thing would be weird by now.

Just curious what others do.
