Seroquel makes my hungry!! Constant hunger and cravings... Mirtazapine did the same. So I gain because I eat more! But I also believe that I gain weight "easier" when I'm on these meds. I just have to look at an ice cream and I've already gained if I don't have total focus on my food intake I gain about 0.5-2 lbs a week - and battling depression, focus isn't that easy for me.

For me, it's very very hard to follow a meal plan / diet when I take seroquel (very low dose! 25-75 mg)
I've gained 48 lbs (22 kgs) since I got hit by depression in february last year.... Not only because of seroquel, but also "just" comfort eating and other meds. So I'll try to find an alternative to seroquel.
Seroquel makes my head quiet in the evening and makes me able to fall a sleep. Without it I don't fall asleep untill 3am or so and I panic. I have to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea.

However, I think it is certainly possible to keep your weight stable or even lose weight while on APs!
And not everyone get this side effect.

If there is any alternative to zyprexa which doesn't have that side effect, I would take that. But otherwise I would try.... It's easier to control your weight when you feel good!

Maybe others have tried zyprexa and can tell you more.
