No, of course not. But also recognize that kids aren't just temporary. Nor are they unimportant. Just ask my mother - she's taken each of us back into her house as adults for a few months when each of us was going through a life crisis and needed sanctuary. And we're always welcome back, crisis or no crisis.
Maybe your mother is also trying to fix things with your father not just for her sake but yours as well?
