Hi!
My psychiatrist wants me to stop taking Seroquel, but I can't live without it.....
I have a hard time falling asleep. No matter how tired I am, my brain just won't shut down. I just lay and after some time I tend to get anxiety, sometimes almost panic attaks. I need a med that makes me relax and able to be calm enough to go to sleep. Seroquel does that, but my pdoc says it makes people depressed? so she wants me to stop. I want to stop because I keep gaining weight. I tried a week without Seroquel and I could follow a diet and lost 1 lbs in 6 days.
My other problems is joint and muscle pain - probably fibromyalgia. With Seroquel I can sleep the entire night without waking up in pain.
Any ideas for an alternative?
(without the weight gain / increased appetite side effects)
(About me: I'm newly diagnosed with bipolar 2 - not sure I agree with the diagnosis though.... I'm on Lithium (0.9 plasma thing...), Lamotrigine (50 mg) and starting to feel better. I've struggled with depression for 14 months now and tried a lot of ADs without effect. Not sure I've ever been hypomanic - but my psychiatrist and psychologist seems to think so.... But we can all agree that I am way more on the depressive side!!)
