Last session my T was responding to me saying that I am a prickly cactus, and she said "I might feel resistance and reluctance coming from you, but that doesn't make me unable to relate to you as a person." In her way she was acknowledging my stubbornness (of which I already knew/agree with), but she said it in a much kindler and gentler way.
