Don't delete.
You don't want a permanent action that you may later regret in a few months time.
Your better option is to deactivate it.
You can do this under settings.
This way your facebook goes "frozen" for a while. It "appears" to people on the other side as if your facebook has been deleted, but it hasn't.
At any stage that you want to reinstate it, you simply log in.
