Do you know anyone with dementia? Do you see any similarities with BP and/or SZ, the "functional" psychoses, syndromes?
I have seen ecstatic happiness and persecutory delusions, periods of activity and inactivity. I am glad I could use my own experiences to help others who were new to this, who experienced nothing of the sort in any way.
But it's sad, very sad.
At least I can be hopeful that it might improve. I can become more independent, at least have hope that I will be.
Should people be made to endure that?
As a side note:
Do you know anyone with BP or SZ and dementia? Is there a better understanding of what's happening, as far as you can tell?

Mania kills cells. Brain cells die. Memories become more reduced conceptually, making more efficient use of limited means. Memories shape our reality. Our memories are more or less split in two by abstractions, conceptual reductions. Mood states with memories, concepts, attached. Memories of pain and those of joy. It causes instability, changeability. Fearing that will leave an emptiness between pain and joy and a greater divide.
