if I had to guess I would say he meant to say ... a life without changes (ups and downs) would be boring and not challenging ... however he was talking of a rocking boat on a still pond where many bpler's are in a row boat on the stormy ocean ... he made a good point just did not understand you can have "too" much of anything no matter how good the intention was ....
