Hi 8th, I'm new, too.

I was also originally misdiagnosed as schizophrenic but really have PTSD. It's weird that earlier doctor said you aren't PTSD because of psychotic episodes because PTSD can also cause psychotic episodes. Frankly, any number of things can cause psychosis, even hormone imbalances! You were clearly talking to a dumb doctor. (Not your fault of course, since one would expect a doctor would know all the different things that can cause psychosis.)

Also, psychotic episodes can cause more trauma as they can be so frightening.

The problem is that some doctors can have their own theories and definitions of things, rather than conform to accepted, agreed upon criteria for diagnoses. I think it's as unethical as it is arrogant.

I'm glad you posted here because I had many of the same delusions you had--thinking there were messages in songs and ads on TV were talking to me, things like that. It helps me to hear I'm not alone in this.
