Just received a call from a financial institution trying to verify that I'd applied on-line for a credit card. I hadn't. My wallet was stolen over the summer with all my ID, including my SIN number. Now someone's trying to use it. And of course the credit reporting agencies are closed for the weekend.

So just a warning - if you do loose your ID make sure you report it to the credit bureaus so a flag can be put on your file.
