I live in a relatively small community (although there is plenty of commercial development all around). I have spoken to all of the neighbors who live on my end of the street, but I'm not "friends" with any of them. In previous dwelling situations I've had (apartment complexes, townhome communities), I haven't known any of my neighbors, and rarely even saw the people. It's funny how we generally live now - often never knowing our neighbors at all. I know that when I was a kid, my parents knew all of the neighbors, socialized with many of them, and were good friends with some. I had lots of friends in the neighborhood, and new the parents of the other kids.
