Good question...I am struggling with this one at this very moment. I work in a small department and one person there disrespects me although I'm not sure she realizes it. I bit/growled back once and she apologized but apparently she can't help herself and the behavior continues. Frankly people have disrespected me in one way or another for most of my life so I don't really blame her since she's not the first and won't be the last, but the situation is unique because I can't walk away. I react by replacing genuine banter with polite but terse work talk but it makes me feel like a pill since our group is an otherwise jovial bunch.
