Smart, sweet, loving. You are right - because they are rats no one understands what terrific little creatures they are and because they do not understand they make all sorts of hideously insensitive comments. I am sure Bella knew you loved her and were trying to do your absolute best to save her so do not be hard on yourself that you were not right there - I know she knew you were with her in your heart.
