Another little gem I've heard (although not aimed at me personally) is "It's just like resorting to street drugs" (and variations on that theme). Uh, no. No, it's not. People apparently take illegal drugs to make their lives suck less, and medications may make things suck less also, but beyond that there are significant differences. Using the same flawed logic I've heard, there would be no difference between quitting smoking by using a nicotine patch and snorting lines of cocaine. My head really hurts just thinking about the so-called "logic" being applied. It strikes me as just a blanket bias against putting anything in your body which alters mood, for any reason at all. Should we shame people who ingest coffee, sugar, or multivitamins then???
