Perna, thanks for that link. Phototherapy sounds really interesting. I know phototherapy as a therapy for various skin conditions, so that is what I thought of first when I saw the word! Here is the link to the book referenced at the site:
Phototherapy Techniques: Exploring the Secrets of Personal Snapshots and Family Albums
I would like to learn more. One time in therapy, I was bringing my T a child information sheet I had filled out on each of my girls, to let him get to know them better and essentially be a conversation piece for us, and I included a snapshot I had taken of each girl. I chose them carefully. He asked me why I had chosen those shots and we explored that for a bit. Really fruitful discussion. There have also been times my T shared with me photographs, two were in a book that had been of major importance to him through his life, dating from childhood. And then just recently, he shared a slideshow on his laptop of photos he had taken while on a recent trip with his mother. We had talked about it before, and I followed up with him, and got this slide show. It was beautiful, really meaningful. I liked how he used the photos he took to construct meaning and a story. I can learn something from that (I dabble in photography). I also enjoyed seeing him with his mom. The use of the photos deepened our relationship. I would like to do more. Maybe I should bring another photo of mine to share with him. Hmmmmm.
