Are you Bipolar 1 or 2? I have taken antidepressants before in combination with mood stabilizers and anti-psychotics (for at least 9 years) and done fine on them for a while until years later I started becoming hypomanic. Sometimes your depression is *that* bad where you need an antidepressant. I wouldn't argue with your doc about that. Just be forewarned that you might get to the point where you start to get hypomanic or manic on the SSRI (Lexapro). I'm not familiar with the Fuanxol, but it sounds like your pdoc is trying to "jolt" you out of your depression with a double whammy of antidepressants. That may be just what you need. Best wishes!!
