My daughter refused to get a job summer before college.
Overall she was a pain that summer, all she did was talked about packing for college, she didn't even do much outside of the house, she isn't a party type, she just sat around talking about college all summer.
She worked all through college and got professional job right after undergrad and now is finishing her master all while working full time in her career of choice, she also had a job while in high school. So we aren't talking about lazy person here. But that summer was a nightmare.
I then read somewhere when kids are about to transition to adulthood they subconsciously behave like a pain in a butt to make separation easier for them and their parents. By August I was almost relieved she was about to finally leave ( well not really but it was moving that direction), I wouldn't suggest hospital but I was about to ask if college could take her earlier lol)
Are you out of high school? Planning to start something new in the fall? Nervous about adulthood? Any of that might play a role.
