I've been inpatient in regular psych wards several times now, so it's not exactly the same experience but I can relate somewhat. It is a scary thought, but if it helps you down the road to recovery then well worth the fear. I think the fact it is specialised will be such a good thing for you as they will understand the diagnosis and know better how to treat it than a regular ward. Plus all the patients will be there with the same issues unlike a complete mixture which has always been my experience. Going to BPD place was actually an option for me recently, it would have been for 6-24 months dependent on how it helped I guess. I turned it down though, mainly because I've never fully agreed with this diagnosis. One of my friends is going soon though, I'm hopeful it will help change her life. She really struggles to be home and keep herself safe.
