Yup. I have two Ph.D friends whom I wouldn't trust as a client at all. I know for a fact one of them was blatantly disregarding their own counter-transference issues, while simultaneously refusing to get help for their own severe emotional disorders. The other had no emotional equanimity whatsoever and was emotionally abusive to their own partner. Truth be told both of these people did help some people but it wasn't their Ph.D. that made it happen.

So um, yeah. A Ph.D means nothing in terms of capability to be a good therapist. It's all about personal connection which unfortunately can only be vetted by trial and error.
