No idea what you eat, but any refined sugar is totally off limit. Also sometimes they fool people they have high cholesterol when they do not. Ratio is important. Total cholesterol ÷ HDL = ratio. Shouldn't be more than 5 and preferable below 3.6. Some people have a high total cholesterol but a good ratio and are still put on meds!
What this really measures is how much vLDL stays in the arteries and does not get recycled. That is the real bad guy while normal LDL is not (unknown to most).
Looking into your own records might help finding out the truth.
Some people have a mutation that creates way too much cholesterol and they need the meds, but most people can eat themselves healthier.
Also unknown (very sadly) is that it is crucial to be on CoQ10 and vitamin D if on cholesterol meds. If your doc doesn't recommend this, ask them why not.
