Sounds like someone who has been abused by a significant other, who says "They don't hit me all the time, just sometimes". Certain personality types are easily manipulated by sociopathic people. You seem to be very trusting of people that you don't know, which is why you look for the "good" qualities in this person. Sociopaths know exactly what to say & how to act according to how you react.
