This sounds like a good idea. Have you found one? As far as trust goes, your therapist is required to keep your drugs use confidential - they won't call the cops or anything like that. If you decide to see a doctor that specializes in an addiction, your therapist and Doctor could only communicate with each other upon your express written permission.

Is confidentiality holding you back?
I don't think confidentiality is the problem. The therapist I see currently has been unable to see how extreme my depression has been, and keeps pushing for me to act as though I'm coping better than I am. I don't feel comfortable talking with her about my drug use, I feel like she will react too extremely and will just say I need to quit without offering any help to do so.

I have an appointment scheduled next week with a new therapist, and I'm hoping things will go better there.
