I talked to my therapist about how I could work with s**tty memory. He told me he has a small box by his bedroom door where he keeps his most important things -- cell phone, keys, wallet, etc.. Then when he needs to go looking for them, he knows to look in the box.
You could get your own box and put your train pass in there, along with your keys and other stuff. It doesn't have to be a fancy box either. Just grab an Amazon box or something, and replace it with a nicer box later

I have specific places for everything. I have a hook for my keys and work badge so I know exactly where they are. It's these little things that pop out from no where. Mostly from traveling to and from work since my week is split between the two. I have my paperwork in files in my home office, I'm organized for the most part.
