That second is a very good point - the difference being, there is a lot of respect between you and your friend, you TALK to each other, which I presume is not the case with granite and her family. It sure wasn't / isn't with me and my family. I am now better with my friends. Family i mostly try to avoid. I don't really know if it will be possible to build good relationships now that mother has passed.
