I'm not trying to tell Granite what to do, but I suspect standing up for her own rights and needs is something Granite has trouble doing because her family has a way of making her believe she isn't important enough or valued enough. Personally, I find Granite quite valuable and choose to encourage her to stand up for her own needs where she can.

I don't doubt that. But - bolded part - and yeah I debate this with my t too - the game doesn't seem worth the candle even to talk about these things with the family. You get your hopes up, you think things are different, but they never are. They "hear" you, but
their ideas about you are set in stone. They have to be, or else they would have to question their whole life. Which I've just spent a lifetime doing. I can't get my hopes up again.
