I woke up in the morning due to the heat and could hear but not see what sounded like a young girl pleading with an adult to please not cane her.

I couldn't hear the distinct sounds of rattan switches but she started howling in pain like how a child being caned would.

It was horrible. Sound carries strangely in dense high rise apartments so I had no idea which block, much more which unit.
