Jinny, try before falling asleep (or resting) and tell yourself that you will change the dream if it becomes bad... say it over and over. You CAN stop the dreams. Keep telling yourself you can. (((hugs)))

There's a type of control we can gain to our dreams, it's called lucid dreaming. I can, while still asleep, realize that I am dreaming and change the outcomes of the dream. Or, I can stop it altogether and find another dream to have.

Don't try hard to do this, as it's one of those things that the harder you try, the farther away it becomes.

(((hugs)))

Some things I've found that increase such dreaming: going too fast in therapy, covering too much material, dwelling upon the events of the trauma, or constantly being triggered.

I hope things settle for you soon. This is a common problem, sleep and bad dreams, and a vicious cycle as the less we sleep the more we need sleep and the more likely to have poor sleep and nightmares.
