[QUOTE=KinkyGuy;5150901]Do no identify with your condition! You are not your job, nor your medication, nor your hallucination...
According to Gurdjieff identification is the only "sin".
Who is the real you? There is someone there with you who is the observer, the witness. When you are despondent like Eckhard Tolle was, and say "I cannot live with myself any more", who are the two entities? The one is the false self, the allegedly "ill" one. The one that mistakenly thinks that happiness can come from wellness... Aren't healthy even rich people often unhappy too? The false, fragmented self who thinks about the future, the next day, or the past. Good or bad the past is not real, it is only as real as your memory.

What then, is the purpose of memory? The false self has to be silenced. I have found that speaking positive words over myself and situations maintains my integrity. Memory orients us in time I think. Without those markers, we really would be insane. I think people with mh problems do dwell on the past, what happened "to" them, instead of living proactively and making the present positive and pleasant.
