I was on depakote and gained 30 pounds in a couple of months. Then I was on seroquel and abilify and many more and I gained a total of 130 pounds. I was actually underweight before meds and I got to be morbidly obese. I got off all those meds. I got off buspar in November and have since been losing weight. I looked up all the meds that cause weight gain so I know if my Pdoc is going to try to put me on anything new. I don't need anything new, I have awful side effects and extreme weight gain issues so I feel better both physically and mentally with as few meds as possible. I take geodon and lamictal for mood stabilizers. They don't cause weight gain but the lamictal is destroying my teeth and giving me dangerous violent night terrors. I would rather deal with that then the weight gain though.
