The Advair is long-term and isn't like the Albuterol for "problems" but should be taken over time so you don't need the Albuterol as much (when you don't have a cold). The Advair isn't helping you breathe now if you haven't been taking it over time; it takes several days of consistent use to "work" right.

What "cold medicines" are you taking? I would call your doctor and ask what to do to help yourself. I'd watch overusing the Albuterol as it can make you worse (give you the shakes and anxiety attacks, and other nasty things). I haven't gotten a cold yet with my asthma but I'm not looking forward to ever doing so. I like Advil Cold and Sinus but have high blood pressure and I'm technically not "supposed to" take meds like that.
