Hello Angel Pie: Well... it's always hard to know, going into a new job, what kinds of challenges there will be... hidden obstacles & pitfalls. Sometimes it all works out in the end... if one can hang in there long enough. But sometimes it's just simply a bad fit & there's no getting around it. From what you wrote it sounds as though this may be the case for you with this particular job. I hope you can simply see it as being "one of those things" that happen sometimes & not let it make you feel like a failure.

If possible, I would suggest sitting down with your supervisor & telling her that you're sorry but this job simply is not going to work out for you & you've decided to resign before they invest any more time & effort into your training. Tell them you very much appreciate having had the opportunity to try the job out & you're sorry to be leaving so soon. But it is simply for the best, from your perspective. That way you can leave on as positive a note as possible. From what you wrote, it sounds as though this department has some ongoing serious problems. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about that. The important thing is to try to bow out as gracefully as possible... assuming that is what you want to do...
