It's amazing how quickly I lost the weight I had gained once I stopped taking quetiapine. Like you, Boz and Equine, I have a high metabolism and have always been quite slim, so going from 120 pounds to 170 was soul-destroying for me. I didn't recognise myself. I didn't fit any of my clothes anymore. I felt more awful about my appearance than I ever had before. The fact that I gained the 50 pounds over three years and then lost it all in six months once I stopped taking quetiapine made it pretty clear that the medication was to blame for the whole thing!
In addition to that it felt like my brain had been replaced by a block of cement, so there was very little benefit in general for me to be on it. Of course it would be a different matter if it had made me able to function again and I had tried every other option available, because in that case the weight gain could have been outweighed (hah!) by the positive effects of the drug. Alas, there were no redeeming factors for me and coming off it was one of the best things I have done for myself.
