Dear MickeyCheeky:
We're all on a spectrum. I'm not a healthcare professional but I believe mental health diagnosis' are not an exact science. I had very caring parents growing up. My family was middle class back when (60s, 70s) being middle class in America was a much more secure kind of thing. Yet, I'm sure that I have swung in and out of depression since middle school. It's like my lifelong battle with my weight. I have to stay vigilant or I could fall back into the pit. I feel sure there is a genetic component to depression. Those of us who are prone to it, are more sensitive to all of life's stressers. It's good to be aware. Stay vigilant.

Sincerely, Myst
