I never really knew about different types of therapy until I started reading here. I do not check up on T. I feel that our relationship is true and beneficial and from the heart, so it doesn't matter what type of therapy he subscribes to. I know he is licensed, I knew him before I went and he was recommended by someone I trust. T is a professional and has excellent boundaries. I'm not so into labels. I know i would not be well matched with someone who practiced CBT because I need to reach my emotions on a deeper level and connect. It's just a personal preference.
The only exception is that I am very close to a family member who is a T herself. I mention things from my therapy from time to time. I know if there were any gross misconduct or if she felt I was not being treated properly she would guide me.
