Loud, sudden noises - especially when not expected - are definitely an issue for me and my C-PTSD.

Studies are being done to see how that factors in with PTSD, and while it isn't official yet (like C-PTSD), I have a feeling that both of these will eventually become a part of that psychiatric bible that thinks that unless it's in there it isn't real ... But, those pompous bozos that "officially" accept or reject stuff over there have their heads up their arrogant butts as far as I'm concerned!
