"Alcoholic" all by itself isn't really offensive word, it's a name of addiction. But it depends in what context its being used. Why are they calling you an alcoholic?

If people called me an alcoholic I'd be laughing because I don't consume alcohol at all. Now when the person actually is an alcoholic, it's a bad idea to call them that until they themselves realize they have an addiction and refer to themselves this way.

If I may ask do you drink excessively? How much? How often? Etc who are the people who call you that? How well do they know you?
