Yes, I agree, we should be doing that more regularly and I apologize that has not reliably been the case in the past.
From now on, we will make a more concerted effort to explain exactly why a thread is being closed. The general answer is always because it is violating one or more of the community guidelines, but we feel that there is still value in the posts that weren't in violation of the community guidelines to leave it in place.
But we will try and post more specific answers as well when we close threads in the future. Thanks for the suggestion.
