Thanks for replying, spal. One of the reasons I haven't done that is because like I said in my first post they're hard to get in touch with - they're not in any of my classes and they rarely respond to my texts. But it's also because whenever I'm with them I feel like I'm just an "extra" - it's how I felt through most of high school, and as much as I didn't want it to it seems to be staying with me at university as well. Whether it's true or not, I tend to think that people are better off without me.

You're right, though - I should make more of an effort. I think there's a chance they might be coming over to our flat next week, so that's something.
