IMO polite yet functional responses when necessary are the best with these kind of people, otherwise zone out and ignore them and do your job. Far more healthy for your own peace and wellbeing than telling them where to go.
It sounds like you are pretty spot on, well done - I know when you have a history of being bullied these situations can be triggering, good for you that you identified that and aim to rise above it.
